Water Softening Filter

A water softening filter is a good idea for anyone who wants to get a deeper clean. From the naturally hard water of wells to the chemically treated hard water of urban areas, nearly everyone needs softer water to help get that much cleaner. A water softening filter is an essential addition to your water filtration solution especially if you live in an area with notoriously hard water.

Ion exchange filter passes water through bead-like spherical resin materials. The water ions are exchanged with the ions that are attached to the beads. This method is used for deionization and softening of water. Combining this method with other types of filtration such as reverse osmosis and ultraviolet radiation treatment is ideal.

A reverse osmosis water softening filter uses hydraulic pressure is put on the water to act against the osmotic pressure naturally occurring in the water. Purified is then collected on the lower part of the membrane. This type of filtration produces that is purified, containing no salts, sugars, ions or the molecules that had been dissolved before filtration. This method will not have the pleasant tastes of other types of filtration. Over 97% of the hardness in water passed through reverse osmosis is removed by the process.

An ultraviolet radiation water softening filter is usually a combination of ion exchange and the traditional ultraviolet radiation used to kill germs. Ultraviolet light is produced by mercury lamps at a high setting. The DNA of the microorganisms that are in the are inactivated by the ultraviolet light as the proteins of their cells absorb the ultraviolet radiation. The real draw back of ultraviolet radiation filtration is that it does not remove chemicals such as chlorine or sediments.
